Smart Financing for Storm-Ready Infrastructure in Bergen County
When the next big storm hits, over 25,000 residents in Rutherford, East Rutherford, and Carlstadt have one less thing to worry about: their wastewater system working without backups, shutdowns, and costly damage.
With financing through the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank’s Resiliency Infrastructure Bank and FEMA’s BRIC grant, the Bergen County Utilities Authority is fortifying the Joint Meeting Pump Station against future flooding.
This project is part of a historic milestone—New Jersey is the first state to lend funds from FEMA’s STORM Act, strengthening resilience and making necessary infrastructure upgrades more accessible to communities.
MS&B’s Christopher Langhart and John V. Cavaliere played a key role in structuring the financing to make this project possible. We’re proud to help NJ communities stay safer in a changing climate today and for years to come.
