Biography
A member of the Bar since 1986, Joe Nichols has more than 20 years of experience at the senior levels of local government law. He has served as Law Director (Chief Corporation Counsel) for the City of Bayonne, General Counsel to the Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority and Executive Director of the Bayonne Local Redevelopment Authority. Joe also served as Planning and Zoning Board Attorney for the Town of Guttenberg and as a Certified Tax Assessor in both Hudson County and Bergen County.
Joe is focusing his practice on redevelopment law and related areas. His experience includes a wide array of redevelopment projects and agreements both large and small, including those on the New York / New Jersey waterfront, as well as work in the development related areas of planning, zoning, permitting and project negotiation and approval. He has also dealt repeatedly with the intricacies of commercial and industrial property valuation and taxation, including both short and long-term tax exemptions, financial agreements and the litigation and resolution of property tax appeals.
